DNV GL Joint Industry Project (JIP) launch workshop on AM 1 OCTOBER 2018

We were invited by our AM collaborator and certification partner, DNV GL to their Additive Manufacturing Technology Centre at Gul Circle on 6 September to share on our experiences on AM spare parts as well as QA/QC, qualification and testing matters. It was a great platform to meet and network with other AM companies, suppliers and industry players in the entire value chain to discuss the opportunities and challenges in the sector.

Over the past 12 months, DNV GL has released its guidelines for certification of marine and oil and gas parts produced by additive manufacturing technology. The aim of this JIP was to work with leading companies in the sector on how to accelerate this certification process.

It was an interesting get-together where participants learnt and discussed about supply chain issues for O&M industries, differences in material and feedstock, specialized personnel, as well as the various testing and certification procedures required to enhance the professionalism and quality of AM parts. With so many factors to handle, using widely adopted standards can therefore help to accelerate the successful adoption of AM for many companies.

Once again, our appreciation to DNV GL for involving us in this event that is aimed at developing the standardised requirements necessary to introduce components made by AM for the O&G and maritime sectors!
